The Rotary Sherwood Park Charity Golf Classic has been supporting local charities in the community for the past 30 years.

A small group of local Rotarians started a golf tournament to raise funds for the Sherwood Park Rotary Club. Over the years, with the support of sponsors, participants and organizers, the tournament has successfully raised funds for local Rotary Club Projects. The Robin Hood Association played an integral part in the tournament for many years and continues to be a part of one of the supported Charities.

The Rotary Sherwood Park Charity Golf Classic 2022 raised $28,000.00, providing funds for 5 Local Charities. The tournament was equally successful in 2021, raising $25,000.00 and supporting 4 local Charities.

The Rotary Sherwood Park Charity Golf Classic would like to thank everyone that has played a role in the success of this well-known event in the Sherwood Park Community.

Rotary at a Glance

Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders who dedicate their time and talent to tackle the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. Rotary connects 1.2 million members from more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Their work impacts lives at both the local and international levels. Rotary Club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally under the motto “SERVICE ABOVE SELF.” In addition to the designated charities this year, other local charities benefit from the Rotarians’ efforts: Strathcona Food Bank, Victim Services, Strathcona Shelter Society, Christmas Bureau, and Strathcona Care Center to name a few.

Designated Charities 2023

Robin Hood Association

(RHA) is committed to excellence in assisting individuals with disabilities to achieve their personal best and experience a quality lifestyle. Their vision is to inspire people to build belonging communities, one good day at a time. Presently, RHA provides lifelong support to 351 adults and 350 children and their families in Sherwood Park, Fort Sask and Leduc County. They employ 640 full- and part-time staff.

Linking Generations

Created in 2004 as a charitable organization, it provides mentored and structured visits aimed at building relationships between seniors and youth in our community — a very important initiative.

Sherwood Park Against Hunger

Since 2015, local community volunteers have gathered together at this intergenerational event to package meals for communities in need. The 60,000 meals packaged last year have all been distributed, so there is a need to hold this event again. Past recipients have included Strathcona Food Bank, Edmonton Inner City Soup Kitchens, and Northern Canada remote communities.

Hope in Strathcona

An addiction recovery service in Sherwood Park offering sober living housing and counselling services for vulnerable individuals.

A Safe Place

In July of 1984, A Safe Place opened its doors to provide support and resources to overcome domestic abuse. Since opening its doors to the community a Safe Place has sheltered more than 25,000 women and children. The Strathcona County-based charity operates an emergency shelter for women and children and a crisis and family violence information line. In addition, outreach and public education programs are delivered with the aim of ending domestic violence in our community.
